BVRT Murals Project

The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is fast becoming a world class recreational attraction, but it’s always been our ambition that it would offer a cultural experience as well as a recreational experience.

With that in mind, just close your eyes and imagine – you’re travelling along the rail trail, whether it be on foot, on horseback or on a bicycle, and suddenly, in the middle of absolutely nowhere, you come across a great art installation. It might be a mural or a sculpture or perhaps some great landscaping at one of the old station yards.

So how about this – the Nurinda underpass is an ugly piece of infrastructure, covered in graffiti, in the middle of nowhere between Harlin and Moore.

Suppose we could do something dramatic on both sides – like the murals above designed by silo art specialists, Brightsiders.

There is of course a catch – we need to raise the money.

The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Users Association Inc already contributed $500 to commission the mock-up from Brightsiders and they have given us a very reasonable quote of $12,000 to do the mural, We’ll contribute another $2,000, but we need to raise a further $10,000 to make it happen.

We’re asking our fellow lovers of the rail trail to please help us reach our target by making a donation, whether it be small or large. Every dollar brings us one step closer to our target.

If we exceed our target, the money will be used toward financing other art projects along the rail trail.
