Australia’s toughest rail trail cycling event - can you beat the train?
From 6.00 am until 6.00 pm
At Wulkuraka Station
60 Grace St Wulkuraka
Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Users Assoc / email@example.com
Back in the days when the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail was a railway line, the trains normally took about 6 hours to travel from Wulkuraka Station to Yarraman, depending on how much time the train crew spent in the Linville pub on the way up.
When we ran a trial run for this event last year, the fastest time was 6 hours and 39 minutes over a distance of 167 km, including the road detour around the incomplete section between Toogoolawah and Moore.
This event will be the first BVRT end-to-end bike race on the fully completed rail trail. That's right, no diversions. Just 161 km of adventure rail trail including the great new section from Toogoolawah to Moore.
Just completing the course is a major achievement, but if you can get anywhere near the time that a train used to take, you're a super human.
We’re aiming to establish two new records:
1) The fastest time to complete the entire Brisbane Valley Rail Trail from End-to-End.
2) The largest number of people to cycle the entire Brisbane Valley Rail Trail in a single day.
Total distance of 161 km with a net height gain of 375 metres on a fairly rough track, with a number of challenges along the way. RFID event timing will be provided by Hayden Brooks of TimingResults.
